While on a run in Phoenix in February, Glenn stumbled on the mountain trail and dislocated his right-hand ring finger. He is receiving physical therapy and is on the mend, although it will be a slow process. He also had an emergency appendectomy in February and is healing well from that surgery. Glenn is doing well and is resuming his concert schedule, and he wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and well wishes.
From Oct. 6, 2009 "RAMBO-ling" column by Bob Rambo, Lakes News Shopper:
Last week we spilled a lot of ink on the happenings at Glenn (Henriksen's) Place, in Spirit Lake. One might say we were effusive. So be it.
Edith Vammen was more eloquent - though equally effusive - in a subsequent e-mail after she returned home.
Edith termed the show "a very memorable evening in Spirit Lake."
"It was so much fun. Glenn is a fantastic musician and a swell person to know. And everyone else performing that evening made it an unforgettable event for us.
"We were so pleased that we got that experience before returning to Denmark."
This past week and weekend saw Glenn in the Twin Cities to make an album with Bill Hansen berfore performing at several venues related to a convention of Danes who are now living all over the United States.
We noted last week that he would again be performing with Victor Borge's daughter Janet crowle. And, much like their show at the Danish museum in Elkhorn, Iowa in May, they played Chopsticks as a duet - the same way Janet had done with her dad many years ago.
Then, Janet quietly asked Glenn to play her dad's favorite piece, Clair d'Lune,, while she sat on the piano bench beside him.
Though an impromptu performance, it was repeated Sunday afternoon for the crowd at the Little Sawn Lake Winery.
Glenn was recently featured on Denmark Public Radio's profile of Ringsted, Iowa. A reporter from Denmark spent time in Ringsted interviewing residents including Mark and Anita Larsen, Bill Hansen, Morris Jorgensen, and Dan Jorgensen. Listen to the broadcast and view photos here
Glenn and his friend Jose Garza ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC on Oct. 25, 2009. Glenn's time was 4:07 and Jose's time was 2:57. Glenn finished among the top 20% of all runners. See a photo of Glenn in his 2009 gallery. Congratulations, Glenn and Jose!
